The Tarot Cards Highlighting Life Patterns
By Jane Mineralis
Decorative cards flourished in 12th century in Middle
Eastern lands, although we are not sure what purpose
they served. Were they playing cards, art collectibles
or the earliest tarot cards?
Many scholars believe the tarot history began with
the Duke of Milan in 1440, when a letter was found asking
for a specially designed deck of "triumph cards,"
which were described as different from traditional playing
cards. Back then, there was a game called "triumph"
that was similar to bridge.
In 1530, people began calling them "tarrochi cards,"
or, as we know them today, tarot cards. It wasn’t until
1781 that occultists and mystics began using tarot readings
in divination practices.
22 Major Arcana And 56 Minor Arcana In A Tarot Deck
A tarot deck comes in many different varieties and,
for the clairvoyant medium, their deck is mostly a matter
of personal taste. All tarot decks come with 78 cards:
22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards.
The Major Arcana represents the most pivotal moments
in one’s life, influential people, one’s core principles,
one’s spiritual state or a dominant thread in one’s
life. These cards start with zero ("The Fool"
card) and end with "The World" card.
Seekers Recognize Themselves In The Patterns
Psychologists say the symbolism and archetypes of the
Major Arcana cards elicit a deep response within the
seekers because they recognize themselves in the patterns
under review. Often the cards reflect what stage a person
is at in life. "The Hermit" card may direct
seekers to look inwards, while "The Devil"
may bode a more serious warning against the dangers
of excess and ego.
Special care should also be given to the tarot spread,
which holds a meaning of its own. The person receiving
the psychic reading will shuffle the cards, while sending
their energy and vibration to the universe and focusing
on a question or area of guidance. Each position in
the spread carries its own meaning.
The 10 Card Celtic Spread
For example, in the ten-card Celtic Cross spread, one
of the most popular options, the first card describes
the present situation; the second card illuminates the
immediate challenge; the third card reveals the distant
past; the fourth card shows the recent past; the fifth
card points to the best possible outcome; the sixth
card shows the immediate future; the seventh card reveals
factors affecting the situation; the eighth card points
to external influences or people who may affect the
outcome; the ninth card reveals hopes and fears; the
tenth card then shows the final outcome.
Those who wish to learn the art of reading tarot cards
can read books, take classroom or online courses and
become certified. While certification is not necessary,
many people take pride in being affiliated with an organization
and apprenticing tarot masters.
Seven Different Levels Of Certification
In fact, there are seven different levels of certification
through the Tarot Certification Board of America, such
as Certified Apprentice Tarot Reader (CATR), Certified
Tarot Reader (CTR), Certified Professional Tarot Reader
(CPTR), Certified Tarot Consultant (CTC), Certified
Tarot Master (CTM), Certified Tarot Instructor (CTI)
and Certified Tarot Grandmaster (CTGM).
One may derive certification through an alternate organization.
The American Board for Tarot Certification offers five
levels of psychic reading certification: Tarot Associate
(TA), Tarot Professional (TP), Tarot Masters (TM), Tarot
Education (TE) and Tarot Sage (TS).

More Psychic Notes....
Does the scientific community believe in psychic phenomena?
For the most part the scientific
community does not believe in any type of psychic phenomenon.
They do believe that there are things that sometimes
defy explanation but you would never see a paper where
the mysteries of the mind were given as the definitive
answer.
The reason scientists reject
this phenomena is because there really has not been
enough evidence collected. Even when researchers performed
scans of psychically gifted individual’s brains, there
was no abnormal activity. It has always been this way.
People like to have concrete evidence of something before
they believe in it or take it as real.
