Planning Your Wedding By Making Your Bookings Early
By Natalie Glass
There is a lot to get done when you begin planning
your wedding. Some people feel that the guest list should
be done first, while others believe you should begin
with booking the church and reception venues.
Wedding planners usually agree that you need to know
the number of guests you are planning to invite, before
you can reasonably decide where to hold the reception.
Once you have decided on the number of people that
you want to invite and if you haven’t already done so,
then it is time to set your wedding budget.
Make The Decision Together And Stick To It
This can be one of the most difficult things for couples
to agree on so you need to be serious and frank about
the discussion. Decide together, set the budget and
then stick with it to avoid problems in the future.
Now that you have decided on how many people you are
going to invite to the wedding it is time to really
start to review and check out different locations. If
you want to be married in a church, then arrangements
will need to be made for that, as well as a venue for
the reception.
Book Early For The Location Of Your Wedding
Remember when planning your wedding, that if you choose
a location for your wedding reception that is rather
popular, then the sooner you get started, the better
chance you will have of securing the location that you
truly want.
Remember to include the number of people in your wedding
party when you are figuring out the size of the venue
that you will need.
Book The Band Early
The next part of your wedding program that you may
want to consider is the music. If you plan on hiring
a band, then you’ll want to get started fairly early,
as many times they are booked way in advance and you
may not get the one that you want.
Even hiring a DJ may take more effort than you think
if you want a good one. Once you find one you will need
time to go over your choices of music.
Hire A Professional For Your Wedding Photos
The next thing on the agenda when planning your wedding
is hiring the photographer and perhaps even someone
to make a video, as capturing your wedding day on film
is an important aspect of getting married. Yet there
are pros and cons to hiring a professional.
One con is the expense involved, but most couples agree
that it is worth it. While you may have family members
or friends who are capable of taking photos or shooting
a video, they will not be able to truly enjoy the day
if they are busy with these tasks.
This is an important occasion and a professional will
also have more experience, can offer ideas and suggestions
and will usually be able to provide you with samples
and references.

How can I keep my DIY wedding planning organized?
The very secret to DIY wedding
planning is a notebook. You do not have to go buy a
specific notebook made just for wedding planning. That
is just an extra expense that you do not need. All you
need is a regular notebook that you can divide into
sections.
That is the key to keeping your
wedding organized. One section will be for your guest
list. One section will be for your decorations. You
will add sections as you go along and start thinking
about what you want for your wedding.
The most important section will
be your budget. It is imperative that you be realistic
about your budget and what you and your future spouse
can afford. Even if your parents or someone else is
paying for the wedding you still must have a
budget.
That notebook can keep your budget
on track. You will have to write down every single expense
you have incurred.
