Meanings Of Dreams Highlighting Unresolved Issues In Your Life
By Janine Jensenoris
Dreams are "windows to the soul," says Dr.
Charles McPhee, host of Dream Doctor Radio Show and
former dream research expert at the National Institute
of Mental Health.
Because recalling dreams is so important, Dr. McPhee
recommends keeping a journal beside the bed and upon
awakening you should jot down your dreams and associated
feelings, and then answer some questions. What was the
main image in the dream? What was the overall feeling?
Where did the dream take place? What situation in your
waking life does this dream remind you of?
Feeling Anxious With Falling Dreams
Falling dreams are commonly reported worldwide. Most
people remember these ones because they awaken immediately
upon impact, feeling anxious, frightened and winded.
It’s a myth that you’ll die if you dream of hitting
the ground, but there are other possible meanings about
falling in dreams that you should consider.
Many individuals report feeling depressed or stressed
about finances, relationships or their career path when
they dream of falling, says Lauri Loewenberg, author
of "So What Did You Dream Last Night?" and
founder of www.thedreamzone.com.
Dreams of falling may indicate that you feel insecure,
a loss of control or the fear of failure.
Triggered By A Dip In Blood Pressure
Psychic Craig Hamilton-Parker says that sometimes these
dreams, which occur during the first stage of sleep,
may be "triggered by a dip in blood pressure, movement
of the fluid in the middle ear, or a limb dangling off
the bed."
Another exceedingly common dream symbol is school.
Whether you’re ten or fifty years old, you’ll continue
to have dreams where you miss tests, you’re late for
tests, you show up naked, or you’re lost on campus and
can’t find your class.
Job Pressures Influencing Your Dreams
Dr. Loewenberg says these dreams are usually all about
your job and the pressures facing you at work -- to
be there on time, to pass scrutiny, to make deadline
pressure, to find your way, to move up to the next level.
Unresolved Childhood Issues
Other dream gurus, like Craig Hamilton-Parker at www.dreamsleep.net,
say school dreams may point to some unresolved childhood
issue or insecurity. The meanings of dreams about school
may also include a desire to recapture the freedom of
youth or a dream that is intended to teach you some
life lesson.
To find the meanings of dreams, you should keep a dream
journal that you write in as soon as you wake up and
before you move from your dream position or run through
the day in your mind. Remain quiet, think about the
last part of the dream you can remember and try to work
your way backwards.
Looking, Fighting And Running
Try to look for symbols, patterns and consistencies.
Examine the main conflict of the dream. Are you looking
for something, fighting something, running from something?
Can this dream be compared to your real life in any
way?
You may also want to look online or buy a dream book
to help you decipher the symbols you’re encountering.
It could be that your dreams are trying to tell you
something important.

More Dreams Facts....
How has culture treated dreams?
In the past, centuries ago, dreams
held a great deal more importance than they do now.
Many kings and royalty would hire people to interpret
the dreams they had. You definitely did not want to
be the one to give the king bad news about how he was
reigning or if there was trouble coming.
But many, many people believed
that the dreams they had were visions of what was going
to happen. Even today culture still treats dreaming
with a certain respect. Often people are encouraged
to write down their dreaming experiences in a journal
and then think about what it means.
Many writers claim that it is
usually a dream that sparks off an idea for a novel,
story or even a movie.
