Lucid Dream Online Dating Secret Friends Guide
Lucid Dream Training And Sleeping Patterns
By Janine Jensenoris
A lucid dream has been described as "a blissful
sensation of blending and melting with colors and light"
that grows in orgasmic intensity, according to the 1990
book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen
LaBerge and Howard Rheingold.
While lucid dreaming, the sleeper becomes conscious
and may be able to control the actions or scenarios
within the dream. They can experience a flying dream,
have sex with anyone they want, redirect nightmares
to become more euphoric situations, travel through time
or space, or solve problems in their sleep.
Many people think, like Jerome Siegel of the UCLA Sleep
Research Center that "You can control your day
dreams, so why not your night dreams?"
Keep A Dream Journal
The first step toward having lucid dreams is to improve
your ability to review and recall dreams. After all,
if you can't remember dreams at all, how will you know
if they are lucid or not? One of the most common recommendations
is to begin keeping a dream journal.
Get into the habit of writing down your dreams as soon
as you wake up in the morning, before you have a chance
to think about your breakfast or your daily schedule.
Train yourself to wake up slowly, keeping your eyes
closed for a few moments.
Avoid Alcohol Or Drugs Before Bed
Spend some time digesting what you just encountered,
rather than rushing ahead with your onslaught of conscious
thoughts. Think about the last thing you remember from
your dream and go backwards to see how far you can remember.
If you awaken in the night, write down your dreams.
Before bed, read through your journal and consciously
tell yourself you will remember the night's events.
Avoid alcohol or drugs before bed, as these substances
may interfere with your dream sleep.
Learning To Interpret Dream Signs
The second step towards having a lucid dream is training
yourself to be more cognizant during the night and learn
to interpret your dream signs. There are certain signs
that you are dreaming.
For instance, if you have trouble reading, you try
to flip a light switch to no avail, you suddenly begin
to float or you look at your hand and see more or less
digits -- you are dreaming. While you're awake, you
can get into the habit of reading things, looking at
your hands or flipping light switches.
Redistribute Your Sleep For More Intense Dreams
Be sure you study the entries of your dream journal
so you know where to practice these "reality checks."
For instance, if you always dream you're in an elevator,
then spend some time reading or looking at your hands
while there.
The final step of lucid dream training is to redistribute
your sleep. Stephen LaBerge and Howard Rheingold, experts
on controlling dreams, say the most reliable method
of inducing lucid dreaming is to redistribute your sleep
to cause more intense dreams.
Disrupting Your Sleep
For example, you may set your alarm to wake you up
several hours earlier than usual. During that time,
go about your regular business and then go back to sleep
for two more hours.
This delayed final stretch of sleep is when you will
have the longest and most intense dreams. The added
bonus of purposefully disrupting your sleep is that
you'll also feel more awake and productive once you
get the hang of it.

More Dreams Facts....
Is it important for you to dream?
There has not been any scientific
evidence that supports that you must dream. The real
fact is that many people dream and simply do not remember
them. A dream typically only last five to ten minutes
during your sleep cycle but you may go through several
sleep cycles a night. That means you may have dreams
several times.
Some people are able to remember
what they dreamed of during the night. Whether or not
you can does not mean that you are not dreaming or you
are dreaming. It also does not have any major significance
on your health. There is one exception though.
If you find that you are having
chronic nightmares that are leaving you sleepy during
the day, you definitely need to speak with a therapist
or your primary care physician. It could mean that something
is happening neurologically that is causing the disturbing
images.
