DIY Wedding Programs For Your Guests
By Natalie Glass
Many couples are beginning to use a wedding program
as a way for their guests to be able to follow along
with the ceremony, as well as a way of explaining the
different traditions that are being followed in their
wedding.
If you decide to create DIY wedding programs, then
you are not only creating a more personalized program
but you are also giving your guests something that they
can take home as a memento of your nuptials.
There are several different ways to review and create
do it yourself wedding programs, but be sure to include
the basics, which naturally include the full names of
both the bride and the groom, the date of your wedding
day as well as the city, state and location of the wedding.
Order Of Events, Music And Readings
The program should also include the order of events
and what music you have selected; if the lyrics have
a special meaning for the couple, then the reason should
be included as well.
Some people also choose to include the composer’s information
as well as who is performing the songs or instrumentals.
If you are going to include any kind of readings you
will want to explain what the readings will be about
and who will be orating.
Include Information About The Ceremony And Meaning
Of Rituals
Many times a DIY wedding will include not just the
names of the people included in the ceremony, but also
a short bio about the individuals and their relationship
to the couple getting married.
A nice touch to include if it is appropriate is a short
thank you note to both sets of parents and possibly
another one to the guests. Also, if it is to be any
kind of a secular or religious ceremony then you may
want to explain any special ethnic customs or rituals
that may be performed.
A Program For The Wedding Reception
Another way of personalizing your programs is to also
include one for the wedding reception; you can choose
to combine the two or you can make a separate one that
will be given at the start of the reception.
The reason for this is to give your guests an idea
of the order and time of certain important events, such
as the cutting of the wedding cake, the toasts or the
first dance of the married couple.
Presenting Your Programs To Your Guests
Since your DIY wedding programs can be made in a variety
of ways, they can come in many different sizes or shapes
and you can choose to present them in a number of creative
ways as well.
Consider filling antique trays, unusual baskets or
anything that matches the rest of your wedding decor
with the programs and have them placed at the entrance
to the ceremony.
If it is to be outside, you can place a program on
each seat and use a wedding favor to keep them in place
or even have them handed out to people as they arrive.

How can I get the best prices for the services and
goods I need?
Chances are that if you are doing
the DIY wedding planning then you want to save money.
Saving money is not impossible when planning your wedding.
You just have to be smart about some of the decisions
you make.
If you want to get the best prices
for services and goods you need for the wedding then
you have to be prepared to shop around a lot. One of
the best ways to save some money is the actual wedding
date itself.
Yes, many brides want to have
a June wedding but that is also the time of year when
the prices will be the most expensive. Photographers
are usually booked and are generally not running any
specials. So if you can have the wedding date a different
time of year, you will save money.
Another tip for saving money
is the time of day you have your wedding and reception.
Generally mid-afternoon weddings and receptions do not
require a lot of food. You can serve a light finger
food buffet which will save you money.
